@Nyak8 Couture... "Be You... tiful"
My name is Marion Nyake Epie-Alobwede, born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa. I am 3rd of 15 siblings. Growing up with many siblings and lots of extended Family living with us, most of my clothes were hand-me-downs and only looked forward to a new outfit during Christmas. As much as I loved fashion, I didn’t have much luxury to express my fashion sense, going to school in uniform didn’t help either. I always tried my best to put myself together in a chic way when the opportunity presented itself. When I went to university in 1995, I had a chance to express my fashion sense a much more. Two years later in November of 1997, I moved to the United States of America, in my early 20s as a shy girly-girl with a very high interest in and love of fashion. Ironically however, 4 months later, in March of 1998, I joined the U.S. Army and my dreams of getting into fashion had to take a back seat. As my saying goes, “Fashion sense never dies, it only gets Fantabulous” So, 20 years later after proudly serving my country, I am ready to take the necessary steps towards fulfilling my long-awaited dream of delving into fashion and using that platform to empower women. While doing this, I want, at the same time to be available for my amazing, always supporting Husband and 2 wonderful Sons, who sacrificed so much for me to be able to successfully serve this great Nation.
Growing up as a girly-girl, fitness was not my thing, but serving 20 years U.S. Army gave me a new sense of purpose and renewed my passion to use fitness to enhance lives. Nyak8 Couture was created to serve as a platform that will combine my two passions; Fashion and Fitness! Nyak8 Couture is not just to sell beauty products but to also empower women through fitness videos and fashion/fitness tips. In essence Nyak8 Couture will serve as the center to uplift and enhance lives starting with the birthers of life; Women. We all are beautiful just as God intended, however, life circumstances have forced some of us to develop low self-confidence and some women including my younger self, believe we’re not as beautiful. Regaining self-confidence leads to reinstating our aura of beauty which led me to coin my mantra; “Be your own kind of Beautiful” and never let anyone define who you are. Make the World know you, just by being you and not trying to be what others think you should be, cause God didn’t make a mistake! So, join me on this journey to uplift and enhance each other so we play a significant role in adding positive social change and shaping the world as She should be…. Our journey is just beginning! women fashion
